Forgotten Frostlands guide. Razz - 09-06-2009, 03:56 AM
This is just a little guide to the new Forgotten frostlands. ^^

First note, this revised frostlands is MUCH easier than the old frostlands. Most mobs no longer aoe, and are significantly weaker. At level 92 I could tank most of the mobs in groups using only jiaozi while unbuffed.

The mobs are pretty good exp... If you're soloing them, otherwise you won't get much if you're in a full squad. When you're near the Oceania Master boss there will be a lot of mobs. Those mobs do give pretty good exp(Around 7-8k each solo) I think today was double exp though so normally it wouldn't be as good.

Be sure to pick up all of the quests. The daily quest becomes available around level 80 I think. To activate it you must talk to the npc inside the enterance. Also to open the door to get inside you need at least one other party member in your squad. New frostlands takes around 2-3 hours to complete(May be shortened if your group is really great at aoeing).

You'll mostly be killing mobs easily, Glacial Shades need to be killed in order to open most doors. So kill them when you see them.

Mob Note - Bishops use aoe freeze and aoe magic.

1st boss - Thunderclaw

The boss is really weak. You should be able to tank him really easily. While fighting him a message will pop up telling you an explosion is coming. You'll also see an orange symbol appear on the ground. If you are on it after 5 seconds you will be instantly killed regardless of your hp. So just damage deal and run when the circles appear and you should be fine.

An npc will spawn after you kill Thunderclaw, it's part of one of the quests.

2nd boss - Diabolic Enfant(I think it was this one at least)

The boss appears after you talk to Holan and activate the quest. Elementos will spawn on the circles surrounding the frozen boss. You have to kill them to weaken the boss. Focus damage on one, otherwise you might not kill them. You have about 1 minute to kill each of them, if you don't they unspawn and a new one spawns in it's place. They keep spawning for a while until the boss is finally unfrozen.

The actual boss isn't too strong. He switches target a lot. He'll sleep people he targets. And he'll also frost people(Basically turns them into an ice cube).

Potentially strong if you don't kill enough elementos before he awakens.

3rd boss - Cyclotra Styren

He appears after you talk to the npc to release her from the prison. This boss is really weak. He summons dragoons which are also easy to kill. This boss doesn't really have anything special about him that I can remember. ^^

4th boss - Dreadindra

This boss summons bishops while you fight him, which can be quite annoying. He'll summon more than one if you ignore it too. This boss purges you, as well as switches aggro often. Like the other bosses though he's not incredibly strong.

5th boss - Asoteric Runewolf

This boss is really easy to tank. It has a deadly aoe it'll use while fighting. The aoe does around 4kish damage per hit and hits about 10-20 times. You'll be able to tell when he is going to use the aoe when he says

So if he starts saying that just run out of range and wait for him to start running around again before resuming damage dealing.

6th boss - Messenger of Fear

Simple boss, easy to tank. All it really does is attack and aoe once in a while. Aoe can be cancelled. Nothing else to the boss really.

7th boss - Oceania Master

This boss is also pretty easy to tank. While fighting him hands will be summoned every once in a while. Kill them immediately, they die in 1 hit. If you do not kill the hands they will aoe your party for 5k damage(Ignores def). The boss will also summon miniature versions of himself. DO NOT TOUCH THEM. If you aoe them, hit them, or do anything to them, they will explode and aoe your party for 5k damage.

An npc spawns afterwards, talk to her to get a quest, all of your squad members should talk to her too. After you take her quest, heads start spawning around. You need someone who can hit multiple targets quickly and possibly aoe them because they unspawn really fast. You have about 3 seconds to kill them every time they spawn and each one gives around 2.3k exp(Probably double exp day today). Then based on how many you kill, you gain additional exp from the npc when the quest is finished.

8th boss - Decaying Fragrance

Uses short range aoe stun sometimes. Also uses a the axe skill(Like Krimson does). Axe will debuff your def so the boss can do a good amount of damage. Purify often, he curses about every 10-20 seconds. This is one of the only bosses I suggest you don't herc tank.

9th boss - Asoteric Phoenix

It's a flying boss so you have to lure it down. The boss has an aoe. Other than that it's just another normal battle. Aoe does mid sized damage.

10th Boss - Holeen, Champion of Fientazzar

This boss starts out as two separate pieces, Holeen Body and Holeen Soul. You kill one of them then the other disappears and out pops Mr. Champion. This boss uses multiple status ailments. He'll seal, freeze, and stun you. He has an aoe that does mid range damage, and that aoe does multiple hits. He'll say something when he's going to aoe. Boss buffs it self when it's at about 20% hp(Thanks to Vidalaire for reminding me. Razz)

After finishing both bosses, you'll turn in your tokens(If you were able to do the quests along the way). You'll get a box that has an item in it. Items gotten from the boxes so far - 1x Flawless citrine, 2 Chest of Coins, probably some other items our squad didn't get. Also some bosses drop The Past Of Frostcovered City(Our squad got a total of 3 from the run). You can trade them in for frost equipments at the Martial Arts guy. You only need 1000 of them for a weapon. It's really 1000, that's not a typo either.

I think that about covers most of it. The information here isn't too detailed and some information may be missing. Feel free to post additional information if it's not here.
